Better to Rule

BTR (Better to Rule) is my demon clan in ABO.

Thus Lucifer talking to his nearest Mate with head up-lifted above the waves of fire in the pit of damnation with eyes that sparkled and blazed, spoke "Here at least we shall be free;  the almighty has not built here for his envy will not drive us away.  Here we may reign secure, and in my choice to reign is a worthy ambition though we are in Hell.  BETTER TO RULE IN HELL, THAN TO SERVE IN HEAVEN".

So having recieved these words from our lord Lucifer himself i have come to gather the most powerful of demons and to punish the arrogant angels who believe in the victory that they did not win but that was given to them by god for we trust in our own strength even if it means to lose for nothing is worse than to be a SLAVE even with victory.

Something for the beginners

There is a good bit going on in the game but if you are just starting and are about to go into your first battle there are only a few things you need to know before you get your feet wet.

Angel team starting units     Demon team starting units

Wizard                                 Wizard

Knight                                  Knight

Assasin                                Assasin

Fortress                               Baedel

So no major differences the angels get a more defensive fourth unit and the Demons get a more offensive one.

Each turn you will be able to move the unit. then after moving you have to option to attack, special, defend, or concentrate.

Defend just makes your defence a bit higher during your opponents next turn.

Concentrate makes your attack a bit higher on your next turn.

attack is a physical attack (for most characters)

Special is a magical attack (for most characters)

Wizard- physical attack is weak and has a 2 space range.  Special attack has       a 3 space range does some magic damage and cause the unit attacked to       lose its next turn.

Knight- physical attack has a 1 space range.  Special attack hits 3 spaces in a      straight line from his position (caution it will hit your own units).

Assasin- physical attack has 1 space range.  Special attack hits all units                around it including diagonal spaces (will hit your own units).

Fortress- Pysical attack has 1 space range.  Special move has 3 space range      makes the target immune to PHYSICAL damage for 2 turns.

Beadel- Pysical attack has 1 space range.  Special has 1 space range and is        effectively just a very strong attack.

there are alot of other units but you will learn as you go thats enough to get started with your original team and get a feel for the game should you give it a shot.

The first picture below is what you will see when you first log in.  just click on a pillar and when someone else goes to the same pillar it will take you to the battle screen.

The second picture is the actual battle screen.

The build up. angels

The first thing you are prolly gonna be itching to do is get that 5th unit on the team and/or start replacing your other units with some stronger ones.

How to Get a Good Start in ABO for Only $7.

If you're a newbie to this game, and after a few games, you decide you like it, invest $7 (5 Euro) and get a solid start playing ABO.  The process is simple:

Start as an Angel.

Buy 5 Blue Gems.

Sell 2 of them for 20k gp.

Spend 20kgp to buy a Stormspeller.  These guys really change the way you can play the game, bombing enemy melee units for huge damage from half of the board away.  Just having a 5th unit at all is a huge advantage, and the Stormspeller is the best you can get for the money.

Then, play and win games until you've built up 10k in gp of your own.  This shouldn't take that long -- about 33 victories.

Immediately upon noticing that you have 10k gold, sell 2 more blue gems. That will net you 30k gold, along with your remaining blue gem is enough to buy a Great Orb of Miner.  That will make you significantly more likely to win gems from each match that you are victorious in.

Now, keep playing, and sell all of the gems you get until you build up 13,750 gp.  This should take you about as long, with the gems, as it did to make the original 10k.  Buy a Monk, and swap out your team's Knight or Wizard, your choice, to add the Monk in.

The team of Fortress/StormSpeller/Monk/Assassin/Wizard-or-Knight is a damn fine one, with lots of synergies. The Fortress can be used to make up for the Assassin's low Defense, allowing him to rush in and get a few good hits off on several units at once.  The Stormspeller+Wizard combination can kill an Assassin or severely weaken a Fortress.  The Wizard can buy an extra turn for the Stormspeller to recover his awesome special.  The Monk can heal the Fortress, whose excellent defense benefits most from this healing power -- or the Stormspeller, who can run away and attack from behind a barrier, buying more time to heal up. The distance damage possible with a Knight+Stormspeller is formidable.  This team is just a very solid one to play with, and will let you build up gems relatively quickly -- quickly enough to save up for a Gold Washer orb, which should be your next step, and then on to purchasing bigger and better units.

From there, the options are many, but that's a pretty ideal startup for ABO, all for a one-time $7 investment.  That's hard to beat.

Essence

ps i dont play an angel at all so this was taken from the game forums it was posted by Essence.  fyi you can do this without buyin the blue gems it will just take a bit longer

Additional beginner help

Just some basic information to help the newbies not get frustrated and quit.

There are two kinds of attacks in ABO: normal and Magical.  The only units with a direct Magical attack, as far as I can tell, are the Wizard, the Stormspeller, and the Angel.  The Throne and the Pyrodemon have attacks that may well be Magical in nature, but I haven't come into contact with either.

Normal attack damage is calculated, quite simply, by subtracting the target's Defense from the attacker's Attack stat.  For example, an Assassin has an Attack of 28, and a Fortress has a Defense of 20 -- so the Assassin does 8 damage to a Fortress.

Magical attack damage is calculated by subtracting the target's Magic from the attacker's Magic.  This means that, by and large, a Stormspeller cannot meaningfully damage another Stormspeller with a Magical attack.

In general, a unit with decent Defense doesn't have decent Magic, making one kind of attack significantly better than another.  For example, an Angel has a Magic of 24, but a Defense of only 17.  It's obviously better to go after an Angel with normal attacks than with Magical ones.  The exception is the Archangel, with both Defense and Magic of 20.

Starting Units

Of the starting units, Assassins and Fortresses have the lowest Magic score of the game, so attacking them with Magical attacks is very effective.  Knights and Baedal are midline, with Knights being slightly more magic-resistant than Baedal.  Wizards, of course, are pointless to bring the magic against.

Assassins also have the lowest Defense of the starting units -- so really, just attack them with everything and kill them before they hit you again!  The next in line, surprisingly, is Baedal, then Wizards, Knights, and Fortresses.  So, save your Wizard's blast for the Knight, since you can kill the Assassin regardless.

In short: kill the Assassins, Baedal, and Wizards with melee units.  Beat up the Knights and Fortresses with your Wizard's special, and then you'll have to beat them down, because your wizard won't live to strike again (in most games).

Special Circumstances

Of course, things can change a unit's stats in a variety of ways.  Concentration increases the power of your normal attacks (anyone verify whether or not it affects Magical attacks?).  Defense increases your Defense (the tautology is killing me).  Standing next to a Fortress also increases your Defense, as does being the target of the Fortress' special ability.

As I figure out the precise math behind these circumstances, I'll post it in this spot.

Lineup

The best opening seems to be to figure out the overall potential range of your opponent's units (Fortress/Baedal: 5, Assassin: 6, Knight/Wizard: 7), advance as far forward as you can without getting inside that range, and Concentrating.  Then, when they advance (which they are psychologically wont to do), they're hopefully going to advance into your range, and you can use your Concentration to bust them up.

With this in mind, it doesn't matter where your Assassin is: he can always get to whatever square is furthest forward yet out-of-range with his huge movement.  Your Wizard should be on one side, for his own defense -- or next to your Fortress if you're planning on advancing both together to keep the Defense boost on the Wizard.  The Fortress, if you have one, is usually best in the middle where he can get to any unit that needs a fast Defense boost.  The Knight is best one off from the middle adjacent to the Wizards, where he can still have a good effect dampening enemy advancement toward your most vulnerable unit.  Your Baedal should be off to one corner, like the Wizard, because really, his Defense sucks, and he's best left to cleanup after your enemy's attackers have been softened up by your other brutes.

So, the Angel basic line up is:

Kni/Wiz/For/'Sin

and the Demon basic line up is:

Wiz/Kni/---/'Sin/Bae

Of course, if these setups become too common, playing to counter them is a good idea.

Keep in mind as you play that units can't move through other units, regardless of what team they're on.  Use your opponent's own units to block off his other units (keeping an eye on turn order), and use the Wizard's ability to use a normal attack at range to ping enemies from safety.

By invoking these basic strategies, you'll quickly rack up the victories and with them, the cash and gems you need to upgrade to more advanced units.

This is also from a post by Essence not myself.

Orbs and Gems

Orbs are used to add buffs to your army, you can only have 3 active at one time.  you cannot use multiples of the same type at one time so dont waste you money.  Orbs are bought from the blacksmith for a combination of gold and gems.

Gems are used to buy orbs or simply sold for money.  yellow and red gems are won in combat or from being in a clan that owns a gem territory. blue gems are bought with real money throu pay pal and sell for 10000gold in game.

Questons

If you have any questions or if there is any other data you wanna see let me know.

This page is also still underconstruction so to speak there will be additional info coming.

As Evexis has stated I am a member of BTR. I started playing about 2 weeks ago when Eve mentioned it. Since I've really come to enjoy the game. The play is addictive and the community I've met so far are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend checking this out.
